In May 2020, a mining induced, 4.9-magnitude earthquake shook the world’s largest iron mine in Kiruna when a rock pillar failed 1,146 meters underground. It caused extensive damage but, thankfully, no injuries.
At the time, our co-founders, Jesper Martinsson and Wille Törnmanm, had already spent years collaborating with LKAB and Luleå University of Technology to refine ideas that would soon form the foundation of our enterprise.
For Wille, who grew up near the mine and whose brother was among the 13 workers underground that day, the incident hit close to home. It also reinforced a conviction: manual seismic processing leaves too much to chance. We believed there had to be a better way.
